What to Expect During Preliminary Site Work
This first phase of work will focus on creating temporary parking near Thompson House and setting up the site to support future construction activity.
The Development Team will share notices throughout the construction period so Thompson House residents, NEHD community members, and neighbors know what work is happening, when it is expected to occur, and how it may affect day-to-day activity on or near campus. Notices will also be posted to the Updates page of this web site. Here is what to expect during this initial phase of site preparation:
Monday, July 13
The first phase of early work for The Waterhouse will begin and will involve limited site preparation activities. This work is needed to prepare the campus with temporary safety improvements before full construction begins. This activity is expected to last five weeks until early July.
July 13 through July 24
The constrcution team will create 10 temporary parking spaces for Thompson House. These are being added to help replace parking that will be taken offline during construction. These spaces will be removed when The Waterhouse is completed.
During this phase, temporary fencing will be installed around the parking work area. Existing curbing and sidewalk will be removed to make way for the temporary parking spaces. Existing site features, including utilities and trees, will be protected as needed. Any trees or landscaping disturbed by this work will be restored at the end of construction, including replacement trees
where needed.
July 27 through August 28
After the temporary parking spaces are complete, the team will begin site preparations to create a safe and efficient construction area for The Waterhouse.
This work is expected to include the installation of temporary construction fencing around the future work area, as well as the installation of erosion control measures, including silt fence and straw wattles. This work will not begin until the temporary parking spaces are in place. The two activities will not overlap.
During this early work, neighbors may notice construction vehicle traffic and equipment at the site. Dust control measures will be put in place by the general contractor and construction areas will be cleaned up at the end of each work day. The project team will do everything possible to limit impacts where possible and provide advance notice when work is expected to affect parking, access, traffic patterns, noise, or other day-to-day activities.
